Live in Cook County Jail is a 1971 live album by American blues musician B. King, recorded on September 10, 1970, in Cook County Jail in Chicago. Agreeing to a request by jail warden Winston Moore, King and his band performed for an audience of 2,117 prisoners, most of whom were young black men. King's set list consisted mostly of slow blues songs, which had been hits earlier in his career. When King told ABC Records about the performance, he was advised to bring along press and recording equipment. all rights go to abc records and b. king, i own nothing a1: 0:00 - introductions a2: 1:50 - every day i have the blues a3: 3:32 - how blue can you get a4. 2016 г. Live and Well and Completely Well were both adventurous albums, with the latter being the better of the two. But it was on Indianola Mississippi Seeds that the producer and the artist found their rightful groove. Because Cook County is little more than a rehash of the familiar B. King which, despite its great moments, has already been given definitive statement elsewhere, most memorably on Live At the Regal. Particularly striking is the audiences failure to respond to Kings efforts at recreating past successes. Still, no King album is ever really bad. The one weakness of the three recent studio albums has been an occasional stiffness in the guitar playing. Listen free to B. King Live In Cook County Jail Introduction, Everyday I Have The Blues and more. 8 tracks 38:40. King has cut a lot of albums since the success of Live at the Regal. And, like the live shows they document, none of them are any less than solid and professional, hallmarks of Kings work aesthetic. But every so often B. truly catches fire his playing and singing comes up an extra notch or two, and the result is a live album with some real sparks to it. Even though Cook County seems relegated to live in the shadow of Regal, it is a fantastic album and a classic for any blues collection. Read more. 6 people found this helpful. Maybe not as popular or well regarded as Live at the Regal but an amazing live show from The King. No other single blues musician in history has been able to say so much by playing so little. When he does decide to let loose he's extremely capable of going head to head with any of the greats. Enter your B. Password . Enter the password that accompanies your username. Subscribe to B.
