Sure do wish I hadn't found these reviews before listening to the album and deciding what I think about it first

The discog people who complain when he offered this album for free in mp3. Shut up a little bit.

This album is unfortunate. It misses the mark by a long shot. Still waiting on old Novel Sound represses that I will play to death. Maybe it's just not my thing, but this music does not compare to Levon's older 12-inch material. Almost everyone I've talked to about it feels the same way.

deadly claw
i dont really get the hype surrounding this release. i think some of the 12" he put out have more (!) good tracks on em than this 4x12". additionally, im always thinking twice about buying something that is 40 bucks new. glad i didnt buy this one.

I am really suprised that this one is still available for a reasonable price...often used Woman is an angel for closing and it always works !

I would have been happy with a super EP:A1 Junkies On Hermann StreetA2 Launch Ramp To The SkyB1 Black Arm W/WolfB2 Anti-Corporate Music

does anybody else have the E/F side twice once as E/F and once as G/H?

Convinced after I don't know how many trips through this album, that "Anti-Corporate Music" is the one, and the only one for me on this release.

It's really rare to find so many good tracks in one album.. Amazing work.

Ahh man. This is still such a sublime album to vibe to. Like others have said below, the two tracks on side D are just so sick. You can't go wrong with Levon anyway, but for newcomers to his sound, this is as good a place as any to start.

A year on this one is aging so well. D side is the best.

Great album. My side D seems a bit noisy, but doesn't stop me enjoying it!

cant help but think that this is a bit of a waste of plastic. should have just made in a 2xlp. some crappy beats on this one i could certainly do without.

This came out at a more than reasonable price for a four piece LP but seriously no cover? Bet most people would of happily payed a few more dollars to get one! Unless I'm missing a trick here? Is it a hipster thing? Are you meant to stash them in four single 12" covers for ease of use? ;-)

Once you get more than 3 records sleeves become rather ungainly. Do you go for a boxset or an ungainly, delicate cardsleeve (case in point, the newest Actress LP)? Unfortunately either would add more cost, and of course, weight to a record. Not cheap to ship a quadruple album by any means, especially for distributors and record stores which operate in a precarious market as it is.

I must admit I'd love to see that happening. ;-)

I'll stick one in the post for you so you can show it off to your friends..

What a stupid thing to say. No man, he just pressed enough records this time, while some people thought he wouldn't and bought two copies in order to resell them for high price. So you're a victim, too? I'm so sorry to hear. But since you're so obsessed with cover artwork, why don't you paint a "sexy cover" by yourself and try to sell it here together with your second record? If your theory is right, people will go crazy for it.

72 copies for sale at the moment on Discogs, big numbers, looks like the lack of a sexy cover is denting sales here (I did my bit, bought two copies). Time to ditch the hipsters & call Artwork Man! ;-0!!

My god, all you cover fetish folks... LV records always came out as stamped white labels without covers, so that's just it and one main reason for the great price. I'm sure, most people clearly prefer low prices over fancy covers. What do you need a cover for exactly? It just takes space and weight in your record box and will wear off and crease after a while. The plastic bag solution is perfect and has its own charme. Rather buy yourself some poly inner sleeves, if you wanna spend your dollars well. And then, maybe, direct your libido towards the music again some day. That is what counts.

It's been 2 plus months and 10 plus listens, and it keeps getting better. This is a five star album if I've ever heard one

Does anybody know who Wolf is? Would really like to find more about it since Black Arm is such a stunning track. Definitely one of my favourites of the album.

http://www.nokturnalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/LeonVincent.jpgBelive this pick will tell you where the name came from.

Stunning album - a journey through different atmospheres and moods that makes a great listen at home as well as it instantly moves your feet. Levon is one of the very few producers these days that manages to come up with something surprisingly new with every release while still keeping his own handwriting. Also love the idea of the unique artwork of every album copy. Can't wait for more to come!

excellent release. this is a beautiful example of the album format and everything a full-length should be: an emotional and musical journey. the tracks sound great on a dance floor as well as at home.

This album is incredible! It is sonically so unique and each track stands on it's own while also fitting perfectly in this collection. I've been listening to Levon's music for many years now and after so many awesome singles, this is an impressive album debut. Every track can rock a club and simultaneously be perfect for introspective headphone listening.

Great Album . Levon Vincent is one of those rare breeds that dances to his own tune . he has proved over the years with his singles that he can do a club banger & just as you expected more of the same - he returns with this well thought out & perfectly formed masterpiece of beautifully constructed and rich album . this album will certainly stand the test of time .

Really bad compared to what he did before. Each tune is worse than the previous one, with maybe 1 or 2 rare exceptions. Totally nonmusical, the tunes go on forever without any exciting changes to the tracks whatsoever. What is more: Each track sounds the same, so what's the point of making an Album out of this? Music for pushchairs at best. I know Levon Vincent can do a lot, lot better than this, that's why I cannot understand that this was actually released.

agree 100%. Most of the tracks sound down right cheesy.

"Each track sounds the same" are you serious? Have you actually listen to the album?I can understand that some people doesn't like it but all the songs don't sound the same for sure, for example "Launch Ramp To The Sky" and "Black Arm W/Wolf" are completely different...

Either I'm getting caught up in some kind of hype or this Levon Vincent guy is a very bad man ! And his records are naughty...disgusting even. A bad bad man.

Thank you acidhouse for this amazing release, best spent 30 $ ever. Keep up the good work!

Incredibly overrated. Just about all of Levon's EP's are so fucking next level but this really lacks something. It's not a bad album, but the required magic for a long player is not there. Some of the tracks take a fucking weird direction that are out of place. I often find myself enjoying the first half and then getting pissed off because an element sounds completely wrong towards the end. Junkies On Hermann Street & Small Whole-Numbered Ratios are perfect examples of this. I really dig Anti-Corporate Music though, excellent tune. Levon, can you just release that as an EP with Woman Is An Angel on the flip so I don't have to buy this whole album on vinyl? Cheers.

Listen to the album more than once!

Hah, well he did put up his album for free digitally remember? As I have mentioned I have incredible respect for the man, unfortunately he just didn't hit the mark for this release and I felt an honest opinon was required given the enormous amounts of fapping happening in previous reviews.

such strong words from someone who doesn't even own the album

Longitude Temporary
That is a great idea! +1

The Album of 2015, go back to school. Listen learn and apprecicate just how DOPE this music is ..... Quit whining about the the sleeves and die cut hand stamp free poster sticker yellow wax LP spine ltd to 2 copy repress please bullshit ... And just clamp a decent set of cans to your ears roll a fat one and kick back ......Uncle Levon will take u there ;) peace

greed style
For this much money...where is the jacket to house these four records? A cheaply printed sheet with track names to accompany the music is a bit pathetic, and arrived all bent/messed up. I hope this trend of not providing jackets to hold albums won't continue. As much as I buy albums for the music, I'd prefer that they're housed in jackets regardless of how much art is on the jacket just so that the records themselves are well protected during shipping and all future storing. Regarding the music, you already know it is great or you wouldn't be checking all these comments out!

I bought my copy from Halcyon actually, and it was $32 here on Discogs. I bought it from them because I knew about them being a store, but I wasn't aware they sold directly on their site. I honestly don't mind paying an extra dollar or two to buy through Discogs to help support the site since I'm assuming Halcyon raised their price on Discogs to cover the seller's fee.Maybe if everyone can forget I even mentioned price since price vs quality is extremely relative on a site like Discogs - and just understand that my main complaint here is that it sucks to buy an album with no jacket! Very simple complaint.

The median sale price on Discogs is $49.41, with the lowest being sold at $43.92 according to the Discogs data. I understand that data is now out of date, as there are several sellers offering this for $30 - but that wasn't the original price at all. When I first started looking for this record, it was $45-55. Most non-Discogs distributors had this album at $45. I did pay $32 for my copy, which I agree is a reasonable price for 4 records, certainly. I would actually pay a little more if necessary to have a jacket, because having these shipped in Spring heat without a jacket is torture on the vinyl, and makes for a serious headache when trying to properly store them with my other records. I just think offering a full album with no jacket is insulting to the buyer. I very well could be alone in this, but I think potential buyers have a right to know what they're dropping their money on before they buy. Would I have not purchased had I known of the no jacket issue prior? I would have certainly still purchased because the music is so good, so please don't take my complaint as anything against the artist or his work. This complaint comes because I also paid a good deal of money to own the last Death & Vanilla album, which arrived from the UK with no jacket. I don't like the trend at all from labels to not provide a jacket, and personally hope that it does not catch on.

I was really excited to get hold of this record. This is much more than Levon Vincent's characteristic sound repeating itself. At first glance some of the tracks may seem a little bit sloppily executed compared to his more obvious, perfectly crafted club tracks à la Man or Mistress or his remix of Dj Qu's Party People Clap (which are all great!). There are some bombastic tracks here too but the strength of this album, I think, is the other tracks that bring out even more of Vincent's great feel for composition. It doesn't feel overproduced, as in too many layers of detail (but I wouldn't be surprised that there actually is), or pretentiously made more low-fi than it actually is to come across as being more real. I think it is hard to make honest music - it seems to me this is the case especially in electronic music. On the one hand you have the copycats and on the other, almost even more troublesome, the ones that will do anything in the name of originality. Originality is a great thing but I think it is more than having a certain sound or trying to come to terms with music generations prior to ours. Levon Vincent's music is none of this. I think Vincent touches a middle ground, wherein his music doesn't deny its dependence of great music done prior to his and that it is not trying to label itself in anyway to make people happy or to piss them off.It is hard to resist Levon Vincent's music and this album is certainly not an exception.Especially recommended:The Beginning: the subtle different shades of the kick before it settles and the rubbery baseline-melody. The form feels both symmetrical and asymmetrical. A big favourite.

The Beginning : is a head nod to Carl Craig

Black Arm is incredible

No Ideas mate - a truly powerful track none the less.

Yeah, have to agree."W/Wolf" seems to be a credit. Any idea who might that be?

The quality of the vinyl is very good, very good sound. The packaging is techno, THIS is TECHNO! Highly Recommended!

Not sure if it's intended, but the quality of the vinyl seems to be very poor for that price. The entire release looks quite used and not very professionally made.

Yes, I agree. Poor quality pressing. Mine is off-centre as well.

Take a bow. The vinyl is fine and the fact the each label is unique is a beautiful touch, so what if there's no sleeve.

If you have access to a scanner, or indeed any means of capturing images, send photos of the upcycled, unique centre labels to Levon's Facebook page as a means of archiving the fantastic array of artwork adorning these records!

a download code would be nice, because this sounds like an album I want to listen to in 1 go.

felt boot
oh yeah. I forgot about that, thanks!

The artist made the whole album available for free download the day before the physical release. Shouldn't be that hard to find...

*****insane release, levon at his absolute best, don't sleep...

Elastic Skunk
Naysayers be damned, this album is perfect. Full listens will yield the results you are looking for. Sit down and give it some time. Sure this isn't as easy-access as "Man or Mistress" or "Rainstorm II", but it contains so much depth in composition. Levon at his absolute finest.

=) Nice

Anyone got the renaissance lute player? I'd love to have that lute player. :-)

Dissapointing, been expecting more. Also, 3 records would be more than enough

I like "D2 Her Light Goes Through Everything". Though I have been a Vincent fan for long time, the other productions are not really enjoyable for me in terms of listening (Now I feel his sounds repeat themselfs...). They may work on a big sound system (where actually almost everything works). Only time will tell if this becomes a classic, this cannot be said at the moment of the release (Everybody with passion to music should know this). And Everybody is allowed to mention his opinion in decent words.

I take it no repress?

boring as fuck. Paint by numbers, rushed, cash-in techno from someone who should be putting out far better. Disappointment

Whenever someone posts a negative comment I like to take a look at their wantlist and / or collection and it puts it all in perspective.

This is music for the ugly ducklings of the world. Music for swans. If you are you're a member of the rat race, climbing around a dumpster with the other rats yearning for power, you may of course listen, but know - this is not music for you. This is action against you.

fire dancer
how in the world does this sound boring.its an album a chance for him to release his more deep work.and it sounds far from rushed.cash in techno?? what are you smoking' no offense , tastes differ i know but on this one your way of.i think you idee of a levon vincent album would be a couple of ns tracks bundled on a lp.this one brings a more understanding into levons work.and sound.i bet a year from now you wil think different about this album.

It's brilliant. Some of it I'm had me in a state of visceral wonder. Even the tracks I don't like - there's one or two that damn right scare me - i'm still in awe of, and it's one hell of an inspired electronic journey. It'll have people talking about it for time. It's music for swans & ugly ducklings. It's never going to please all.

Ok so it looks like I will have to make my own sleeve to house the 4 vinyls because this comes in white generic sleeves, an insert and a plastic outer sleeve. But you know what I don't mind because the music is what matters. Some sublime tracks here.

levon has always made it emphatically clear that he, his music, and his label are for DJs... even with this album. max 3 tracks a 12" even for a 12 track LP. same white label minimalist setup. new levon but also old levon :).

Indeed, thought it would be better presented, especially after reading the notes above regarding the labels. As you mentioned, though, it's the beats that matter

Still in stock in the US for the low price of $29.99 at halcyontheshop.com

Just got my copy. Premium electronic music on 4 vinyls for a price of bag of crisps.

haha! actually comes in something similar to a bag of crisps.

instant classic

£26.75 from Japhy, get it quick....oh too late. Had fun with this today on the wheels of steel.

Considering he only releases one or two EPs a year, dropping an 11 track debut album is a huge move for Levon. It obviously makes him vulnerable to the huge amount of expectation. I sort of get some of the criticism below, but I couldn't help buy it just because it's Levon Vincent. Also I think it's pretty damn amazing too.

is this still up for order anywhere?

Honest Jon's I think

Try Juno?

I have to say this album doesnt take my breath away.. dont get me wrong i like his stuff, also have nearly all his records... maybe i only dont like it that much, because my expectations were too high and it has been too long since his last piece of music came out. that said im much more into his older stuff than into this album. although two really great tracks are on there, 'Confetti' and 'Anti-Corporate Music'. He should've definitely put 'The End' and 'Fear' on there, still cant understand why these arent released.

The album is good. And it get's better with every spin. But I agree.Let's be real, it is kinda hard to top a body of work that includes Air Raid, Stereo Systems, Speck's Jam, Six Figures, Woman is the Devil, Late Night Jam.

I agree as well. Levon Vincent - WKO on his old resident advisor mix has also never been released.

Just ordered. Why is the pricing so random from seller to seller? $32 from Halcyon in NY; $36 from Juno in the UK; then $40/50/60 from other sellers ...

Really really enjoyed this one. Amazing that he put it out for free too.F is my highlight of a beautiful yet heavy release.

How cool is it to give away your brand new album with a free download link for everybody? I really love the gesture and hope this kind of file sharing in the best sense will find many imitators. Can't wait to hold the physical record in my hand though, and put it on my table!Art is an invitation to join other people's daydreams and weave your own ones into them, a psychoanalyst (Ernst Kris) once wrote on the social aspects of art according to Freud. Not only through its shared form of distribution, but even more so through its musical content, this album appears to me like a socialized dream: Its melodies and soundscapes are imaginary worlds to enter and explore. The dream is also a journey through time and space - it starts with "pop-rooted" synth lines like from the 70's or 80's on "Phantom Power", then flies away to the higher spheres of 90's trance (Are You Ready To Flow?) on "Anti-Corporate Music", and finally arrives in 2015 with an incredibly strong and haunting nightmare of "Junkies on Hermannstrasse"... Deep and masterful music - thanks for the invitation!

Heavy sounds! Can't wait to own it on wax!
