Album

It's Hard to Find a Friend is the debut full-length album by Pedro the Lion. It was originally released on November 3, 1998 on Made in Mexico records. A re-mastered version of the original recording was released on October 16, 2001 on Jade Tree Records. All songs written by David Bazan. Of Up and Coming Monarchs 3:00. The Longer I Lay Here 3:04. Big Trucks 2:32. Suspect Fled the Scene 3:56. Bad Diary Days 4:01. The Longest Winter 4:12. Pedro the Lion's Dave Bazan is an observant Christian who wears his sins on his sleeve. Still, there's a sweetness about his outlook and journey on It's Hard to Find a Friend. The songs offer nice detail: he finds his girlfriend has ticket stubs to a movie she saw with someone, but not him and he wishes he could become the disciplined person a friend is for a few habit-forming years. There's some real grace and poetry in the lyrics, and the music is spare, simple, and hypnotic. The bendy chords and gorgeous lilt of Suspect Fled the Scene suggests country music with a dash of Pavement, while Big Trucks is Bazans sideways version of Lemonheads-style jangle rock. But Bazans talent for detailed, empathic storytelling was sharp from the very beginning, as on Bad Diary Days, where he uses the discovery of a girlfriend's ticket stubs as a metaphor for a mans jealousy problems. Album: It's Hard To Find A Friend 1998. Review Summary: Pedro the Lion's first full length, A solid indie rock album with plenty of lyrical talent to spare. This is Pedro the Lion's first full length, and expands on their earlier sound from the Whole EP. It is also less focused on a religious message than Whole, but it is still very apparent. What is amazing about David's writing in these days is how he did push across a Christian message in some songs, but it is never the least bit imposing. It can be just as enjoyable of an album whether you agree or disagree with the message and point of some songs. Otherwise, though it's one of the sloppier pressings I've seen. The hole in the center is too small to fit on the turntable this was the case for both copies I received. I was also told by the record label we are having major issues with the inside labels being wrong and smudged pressing plant errors. Curious to find out the pressing plant so I can try and avoid purchasing stuff made by them in the future. Rispondi Avvertimi Helpful. If I am not mistaken it was released in 2004. Master Release. On every track I can pick out each instrument typically electric guitar, bass and drums and follow along with it. The sparse music isn't necessarily slow, some songs have a noticeable punk influence, but it seems as if each chord, each stroke was thought through. Instead of bombarding listeners it provides the right amount of music, a true accompaniment to the lyrics. After this album, Bazan begins to start writing thematic albums, but It's Hard to Find a Friend is about a variety of topics. Another song that's been stuck in my head lately. Pedro The Lion - It's Hard To Find A Friend Album Lyrics. Of Up And Coming Monarchs Lyrics. Pedro the Lion is an indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. David Bazan formed the band in 1995 and represented its main creative force, backed by a varying rotation of collaborating musicians. After a shifting lineup, Pedro the Lion finally eventually became a one-man outfit. That man is David Bazan. A Seattle native, Bazan cut his teeth playing in hardcore bands before forming Pedro in 1995, taking the band's name from a character he made up for a possible children's book. Under the moniker of Pedro the Lion, Bazan creates melodic pop in the vein of Bedhead, Hayden, a read more
